Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event.
