Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
