Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
