Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he loved gambling on various card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a bit and relocated to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he played many hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He made some extra money by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he could improve his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an effort to acquire more sleep and focus attention even more on poker.

The real advancement in his skills began when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable players would often challenge one another. Howard was able to access a few of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard would tweak his cunning thinking abilities. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL Texas Holdem.

Howard also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to head out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. She is one of the best women players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer moved to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in money games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he made the decision to play more tournaments.
