Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world might be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
