Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors in the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
