Poker has become world acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the bank instead of each other. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little conniving or other kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer announcing "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers receive five cards. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call wager or give up. The call wager’s amount is on same level to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your ante goes instantaneously to the bank. After the wager comes the face off. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, plus a figure equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The bank pays out chips even with your original bet and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
